Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd |

A group of four girls from the same Co-curricular Activity in Raffles Junior College wanted to promote inter-generational family bonding and instil family teamwork through a creative fun-filled public event.
With the support of their chosen VWO, Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd (FOTFS) and 80 volunteers, a cooking competition titled “I Can Cook”, to promote family bonding was organised, where the winner will compete with the winner of a similar competition in Japan. On top of the cooking competition, the team also sold balloon-sculptures and family-themed magnets as addition to their fund-raising efforts.
The success of this event was attributed to the fact that it was publicised extensively through Shin Min Daily, TODAY Newspaper, The Straits Times, CapitalLand brochures and also on CapitalLand and FOTFS websites. Booths were set up in various CapitalLand malls and about 1,500 families were personally approached a few weeks prior to the event to garner participation, alongside, they promoted the importance of family values and bonding whilst selling balloon sculptures. Mass e-blasting to FOTFS database (about 6,000 constituents), VWO’s programme partners, churches, personal contacts and sponsors were done to solicit sales. Their publicity reached approximately 1,500,000 people and raised $9,951.23 for Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd. |
