We-Sharecare Society

When Pillar of Hope was about to start the first of their many street sales, the original team was disbanded and the team leader was left to look for a new team through his network of friends. Their project was centred on the sale of donation tickets at $5 each, balloon sculptures and specially designed notebooks. “Pillar of Hope” was built at the end of the project using used donation tin cans from street sales and CDs with well wishes written by members of the public, donors, volunteers and seven Ministers. The purpose of building the pillar was to let the children and youth know that they are the pillars of the nation despite their unfortunate condition and it also represented the care and love that the society has for them.
Due to lack of pre-established camaraderie, they faced an uphill tasked of reviving their project. However, they still managed to mobilise about 1849 volunteers from schools and corporations to do streets sales by recruiting them through conducting school talks and soliciting volunteers from an insurance company and Orange Tee.
All the volunteers were each provided with a sales script so that they would be sending the correct messages to donors about their project and the cause of their chosen VWO. The staff of We –Sharecare also briefed the volunteers on the background of their beneficiaries in order to motivate the volunteers. During street sales, food and drinks were provided for the volunteers. At the end of their project, certificates of appreciation signed by VWO and team leader were presented to the volunteers.
Pillar of Hope managed to raise a total of $20,168.42 for We-Sharecare Society for Children and Youth Singapore.
