Inspire’07 is a student-initiated project since 2004, raising awareness and funds for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
This year, Inspire’07 initiated a new aspect to their project by organising a charity performance at the National University of Singapore University Cultural Centre with the Minister of State for Education RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew gracing the occasion. The team also organised Writing and Photography competitions, attracting heart-warming entries, which later were published into a book of stories and photographs. The National Art Competition was also held, in its second year, which drew more than 3,000 entries raising more than $3,500 in participation fees.
Street sales of teddy bears and Post-It® Note were also conducted, with the help of more than 3,000 students from 50 schools despite strong competition of volunteer recruitment by other Youth For Causes Project teams.
Inspire’07’s street sales, competitions which had drawn to them more than 3000 entries, publications, on-going emails, blogs receiving 60,000 clickthroughs and media outreach through multiple articles on them in The Straits Times, Channel News Asia, and a Chinese reality show The Little Red Dot had enabled the cause of the team to reach out to more than 2 million members of the public.
On their own initiatives, Inspire’07 raised a total of $80,000 and heightened awareness of their VWO – The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, through media coverage in the Straits Times. |
