Kogasumaru comprises a team of students who aspired to raise funds and public awareness of their chosen VWO – Society for the Physically Disabled, to encourage the public to develop a “giving heart” while creating an opportunity for them to come together as part of the National Day celebrations.
The team held a Street Soccer Challenge in hope of fostering the spirit of good sportsmanship among the participants and to showcase their soccer talents and skills to the public. The team also organised a carnival on their school grounds with more than 50 food and games stalls set up by various CCAs, alumni, teachers, parents, public vendors and 9 other YFC teams. The programme included a stage concert, with performing rock bands formed by student volunteers of their school. Through their social network, they also invited two Campus Superstar finalist contenders to further raise public attraction of the carnival.
Despite the tight schedules and lack of time to study for their tests, the team still managed to recruit 400 volunteers from their families, friends, classmates, school, CCAs, teachers and even stall vendors from night bazaars to set up about 50 stalls at their school carnival.
At the end of their venture, the team exceeded their initial target and raised $26,512.10 for the Society for the Physically Disabled. |
