With its 5th year down the row, Inspire 08 managed to keep their vision up and running and be able to motivate more and more volunteers to identify with their cause and deliver the very best.

With the belief that volunteers are the “heart and soul” for the project, they had a very detailed planning in volunteer management – from recruitment strategies of approaching past volunteers, schools and general public, to managing the volunteer database, rewards and recognition and retention. With the previous experiences over the past years, the team developed a systematic and strategic approach to ensure they can get the right volunteers and provide them with satisfying volunteering experience.

With the four main components for Inspire 08 this year – a student –run concert, charity run, street sales and online donation, they needed to obtain a large number of volunteers and equip them with different knowledge and skills, e.g stage-helpers in the concert, experience in working in a sport event and street selling experience, the team managed to match the volunteers according to the needs of the events with the volunteers’ skills and experience.

They also took good care of the volunteers – giving clear reminders for dress codes to volunteers, providing refreshments to volunteers to quench their thirst during periods of dry weather.

Inspire 08 had succeeded in mobilizing over 1200 volunteers in street sales and other various events, raised $32,500 and reach out to around 25,000 members of the public.
