Mr Jimmy Chew is not only a mentor, but also a close friend to the team, Ice-Scream: ‘Love’!. He is charismatic and caring. He guided and motivated the team throughout the entire 16 weeks. He often brought the team out for late night supper to give them support and discuss the project.

Despite his busy life as a banker, Jimmy would always make an effort to meet the team. Most of the time, he would work until ten o' clock in the evening and meet them after that. Even when he was hospitalised after undergoing an operation, he would still keep in touch with the team by emailing and messaging the team. It was during that period that Mr Chew helped to send out the email to Citibank and secured orders of 1400 tubs of ice cream.

Mr Jimmy Chew taught them many soft skills, eg. how to ask for favour from someone, how to secure sponsors, how to persuade others, etc. Allowing autonomy of the team’s decision, he equipped the team with the knowledge to make wise decisions. He stayed with them for the whole day just to fix problem.

The team, Ice-Scream: ‘Love’! was very touched by Jimmy. He is indeed a friend a brother, his selfless giving dedication and support given to the team had motivated the team to do their best to help the children from the VWO.
