Sea of bags started off after all the team members had collectively agreed on the NPO they wanted to support and make a difference. What better cause to choose than to be the voice for the abandoned and unwanted voiceless animals. They felt very passionate and were confident that they could make a difference in their own way.
Although they had encountered a lot of challenges, be it high cost of manufacturing bags locally, the delay of the bag production, unfavourable timeline, mentors opposing the idea etc, they have well demonstrated their entrepreneurial spirit. For example, when they faced the challenge of producing more bags than they intended to do due to the production requirement, they were willing to take the risk and be flexible enough to change their plan to ensure all the bags were sold. The team members have shown leadership, boldness and creativity which are essential elements of being an entrepreneur, with these qualities, they were able to motivate different individuals to endorse and support their project. One example would be the MP of Ang Mo Kio, Mr. Inderjit Singh, who was impressed by the team’s vision and determination, supported them by purchasing 100 bags.
The exceptional power that Sea of Bags executed had brought them to over-achieve from the original target of selling 1200 bags and raised $6,000 for SPCA, to a remarkable number of $21,785.00 and sold all the 4000 bags they produced. |
