youths.care08 had very clear objectives from the start of the project: 1) to raise funds for the SAC ; 2) to raise awareness of the SAC; 3) to activate youth to help in the SAC’s cause; and 4) to provide youths with an opportunity to interact with less fortunate youths.

Driven by the belief of creating a “youth for youth” project – they had organized sales of badges which were designed in youth appeal, sales of frolick yoghurt, which is popular among students from Junior College, in a school for a day, as well as a concert-cum-party “Glo-For-Youth” at Fort Canning Green – a popular party theme (Glow in the dark) for youth in Singapore as well as having the meaning of let the youth shine in their life.

With the vast network of the organizing committee plus creativity, the team’s initiatives were widely presented in various channels – from posters available in their sponsors, schools; a facebook group and listing in Strait Times, they also managed to rally over 600 volunteers including the musicians who performed in the “Glo For Youth” concert.

Despite their tight schedule (most of the team members were having exams in the initial period of the project), they managed to secure vast monetary sponsors from various organizations, e.g. Singapore Totalisator Board, NEC Singapore, Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) Singapore. In addition they have good pricing strategy and attractive products (badges) which generate substantial amount of income. They managed to deliver the whole project with special appeal to youth, and able to spread the vision of SAC through different occasions (e.g. flyers, SAC Info booths, even in the Emcee scripts during the concert) to make sure they echo to their belief of “Youth for Youth”.

With effective strategies in targeting particular audience – the Youth, they managed to reach out to 14,702 people. A total of $25,058 was raised for the SAC.
