The Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes programme has not only shown that the volunteering spirit is very much alive among young Singaporeans, but has also encouraged the teams involved to dig deep, using their initiative and entrepreneurial skills in creative ways to give back to the community. Many faced disappointment and adversity, yet they proved to be flexible and innovative, with a remarkably infectious enthusiasm and commitment to the social causes they were helping. These were qualities attested to by their mentors, by those they touched in their fund raising and awareness raising efforts, and most important of all, by those they set out to help.
